Mr. H.F. – Fall Toddler Pictures – Helena, MT Child Photography
There are some littles whom I have had the honor of photographing all throughout their tiny little lives. And Mr. H just so happens to be one of those oh-so-fabulous littles!
It all started waaaaaaaay back with his Mommy & Daddy’s wedding, and since then there’ve been baby bump pics, and newborn pictures, and 6-month pictures…and allllll kinds of other sessions, lol. And at every session those big brown eyes just get even MORE cute and MORE heart-meltingly mischievous.
True story.
It’s ridiculous (in the best possible way:).
This year for our shoot the stars aligned for THE most amazingly yummy fall day. No wind, the just-a-bit-crisp perfect fall temperature, and the COLORS. Oh.em.geeeee. The colors were ridiculous–and gorgeous–and amazing.
Seriously.
It even smelled like fall. You know that warm, earthy, leafy fall smell that surrounds you as you crunch through the tall golden grass and already fallen leaves? Heaven.
And the pictures? Well, those are perfectly delicious as well.
Yum yum yum – mischievous mischievous mischievous!;)

OK, most of you know we are BOBCAT fans at our house…but I’ll make a Griz exception for this little man.

C Family – Fall Pictures – Helena, MT Family Photography
I had the pleasure of meeting up with the whole C clan for a multi-generation photo shoot last week. This was not the first time I’ve photographed members of this fabulous family – I still grin when I remember the twins’ one-year session – but it was the first time I’ve had grandparents and grandbabies and cousins and aunties and uncles all at the same photo session! These guys came from all over the state (Big Fork, Twin Bridges, and Stevensville, oh my!) just so they could get pictures together (soooooo special!) and I think it’s safe to say that we had a BLAST:)
There were giggles, and tickles, and snuggles, and grins, and silly faces, and Grammy kisses, and cousin lovies. Honestly, it was the most perfectly gorgeous fall evening and I can’t imagine a better way to spend it than with these fun peeps! Plus toddler belly-laughs pretty much make my life a sunnier place – and the twins had those in SPADES for me that night:)
Rough stuff. Rough stuff indeed!

M Family Pictures and Mr. J Turns One – Outdoor Family Pictures – Helena, MT Photography
Oh how I love the M Family! Miss J always makes me smile with her sweet little voice and her astute observations. Mr. E always makes me giggle with his mischievous all-boy attitude and endless energy. And Mr. J melts my heart with his oh-so-stoic old man soul in his little one-year old body. And since their mommy is a very dear friend of mine, I’ve known all of these sweet babies since they were teeeeeeny tiny!
I adore them. Yes I do!:)
But none of them are very teeny tiny anymore, which just makes these shoots even more special: to capture memories for this family and to watch as the years go by and their babies grow older and develop their fabulously individual personalities is just so…special. So very very special indeed!
This shoot was celebrating Mr. J’s one-year birthday (complete with Mommy’s fabulous made-from-scratch cake) so we busted out the sweets and had our own little outdoor cake smash!
Yes, my job is DIFFICULT and TERRIBLE and NO FUN AT ALL;)
Which is such a coincidence because Mr. J thought perhaps his cake smash was also going to be difficult and terrible and no fun at all….
He discovered he was wrong.
And I’m here to tell you that he quite enjoyed shoveling handfuls of cake into his sweet face:)
Having fun and shoveling cake does require intense concentration, however.
Big sis and brother also got in on the cake fun!
They also got in on the photo shoot fun!
[This photog did have to work a leetle bit to tease a REAL smile out of Miss J. It was worth it;)]
See? MISCHIEVOUS **must** be his middle name.
And the birthday boy? Well, his smiles are all the sweeter for being a wee bit fleeting and rare.
But concentration he has in spades!:)
And what would a one-year session be without a bit of little-boy-dirty-feet…?!
I know for a FACT that these sweet faces make their mommy and daddy’s hearts go pitter pat.
Can’t say that I blame them….
And we’ll end this Sneak Peek with a family shot that makes MY heart go pitter pat.

Miss H.H. – One-Year Pictures in the Studio – Helena, MT Baby Photography
I first met this sweet girl when she came to the studio as tiny baby – and now she’s ONE! Oh, how the time does fly!
It’s definitely crazy how quickly the time passes – but what I looooove to see is the personalities that emerge from these little people as they grow. And Miss H certainly brought the personality! This time she came secure in the knowledge that she L.O.V.E.D. her mommy’s phone. And she H.A.T.E.D. having her clothes changed. She also loved bouncing (and bouncing and bouncing and bouncing) and she developed quite the fascination with my lighting equipment and my camera strap (baby photog in the making, hmmm?).
Of course, I always do a little mental happy dance (that is, “mental” as in “in-my-head,” not mental as in “cuckoo-crazy-town,” just to clarify) whenever we get to do a one-year cake smash because every Little is so very different with their approach. It allllllways cracks me up. In fact, Little Miss H’s pretty much takes the cake (cake! har har – I couldn’t resist) for most-flexible-cake-eating-EVER. I’m actually giggling right now just writing about it:) Of course, I have the photographic evidence for you below! {you’re welcome:)}

I know sweet girl, sometimes it’s hard realizing you’re another year older….
BUT! With birthdays comes CAKE!
[So notice how we’re starting out oh-so-daintily here, right?]

“Well, if you say so…!”
And it is at this point that Miss H goes ALL in:
And proceeds to plants her face right.in.the.middle.of.her.cake!!!! [whilst folding her body in half and holding on to said cake with both hands so it can’t possibly escape]
Bwahahahaaaa!!!!!!
I was laughing so hard I was crying. Seriously! And I have picture after picture of her doing this! After she figured out that it made WAY more sense to take her mouth directly to the cake instead of depending on her somewhat less-than-coordinated fistfuls of cake, she just continued to rock the folded-in-half method of cake eating. I’ve NEVER seen anything like it – I’m still giggling:)
Sweet Miss H – I absolutely ADORE you and I’m so glad we got to celebrate your one-year old birthday together!! We make a fantastic team, if I do say so myself;) I can’t wait to show your Mommy & Daddy all of the great shots we got! Yay!!!

Baby Girl S.S. and Big Brother K.S. – Newborn and Sibling Pictures – Helena MT Baby Photographer
I know I’ve mentioned this before **ahem** a few times – but to me there is nothing more special than to be entrusted with capturing a family’s memories over the years…. When we get to take wedding photos for a couple and then they come back to us for more pictures as their family grows it just gives me the most incredible warm fuzzies. Honestly, it’s pretty indescribably amazing!!
Melissa and Andy are one of those couples. We’ve done engagement pictures, and wedding pictures, and family pictures together – so when I got the call that they had just welcomed a baby girl to their family and they wanted to do family and newborn pictures I was over-the-moon excited! We quickly got them scheduled (a heads-up to all of you soon-to-be mammas: newborn pics ideally happen before babe is 10 days old so don’t wait to schedule those pics!:). And then these guys traveled from Anaconda to the MLP studio for their session. Of course, after all of that traveling (and sleeping) little Miss S was nooooooot so interested in spending more snoozing, but she’s pretty amazingly adorable awake or asleep so that really didn’t matter! :)
I mean, look at this sweet alert girlie!
She was just happy to hang, wide awake, and take it allllllllll in.
Seriously!?!?!
The cuteness. It hurts.
Newborn snuggles = joy on Earth.
Andy and Melissa said that what they really really wanted was a few great pictures of big brother K and his new sis S together, so we spent quite a bit of our time focusing on that. For a little man who took a while to warm up to the idea of pictures, I have to say that by the end I almost couldn’t keep up with all of the cute snuggles and kisses and gentle love pats! If you can look at these pictures of Mr. K lovin on his baby sis without a tiny little bit of your heart melting, well, then you’re obviously not a big emotional sap like me;)
Mr. K – thank you for being SUCH a sweet big brother. Your lovies melt my heart.
Andy & Melissa – I love your little family. I love your darling babies. And I love taking your pictures!! Thank you for coming all the way to Helena for our session. I can’t wait to show you the rest of your pictures:)
