Fred & Jacey – Fort Benton Winter Wedding – Fort Benton MT Wedding Photography
Fred and Jacey got married on a gorgeous Saturday in December in Fort Benton, MT and what a wonderful day it was! This was a wedding we’ve been looking forward to for quite a while, as it was the THIRD Ritland Family wedding we’ve done in the past 18 months! Yeah, wowsa! We did Michael & Sarah’s wedding last October (Sarah is Jacey’s sister), then we did Brett & Jessalyn’s wedding this summer (Brett is Jacey’s brother) and now it was Fred & Jacey’s turn to celebrate! But we were far from the only ones who were excited for this wedding. Fred & Jacey’s family and friends were so so happy for the couple and were clearly very excited to be celebrating the wedding of these two high school sweethearts.
From working with Fred and Jacey at our previous weddings, and from their super fun engagement session this summer(seriously, if you haven’t seen these pics you MUST check them out – we traveled all over Fred’s family ranch and the scenery and pictures are seriously swoon-worthy!) I knew that we were going to have a BLAST at their wedding. And boy was I right! Talk about the perfect end to our 2012 year of weddings:)
Jacey had her heart set on getting some outdoor winter wedding pictures (we were also super excited for that!). Unfortunately the snow didn’t exactly cooperate (there really wasn’t any on the ground, even though it was cold enough to have ice floating by in the Missouri River – brrrr). But we did get out in the beautiful winter sunshine to take the Bride & Groom pictures and the Wedding Party pictures. And I must point out that the only nod Jacey made to the 20-degree weather was her fabulous faux fur shrug. She didn’t even wear boots! Nope, this bride rocked sexy strappy high heels the whole day!:) And when the bridesmaids joined us outside they didn’t even wear their shrugs but not ONCE did I hear even a whisper of a complaint. They were all there 100% for Fred & Jacey. Very very awesome.
Of course, the rest of the day was just as fabulous – from getting ready in the gorgeous suite at the Grand Union Hotel, to the beautiful ceremony at the United Methodist Church, to the rockin reception at the Fort Benton Agricultural Museum (Dude. Could this crowd ever jitterbug!!!!). It was truly a special day for a very special couple.
Fred & Jacey – thank you for inviting us to share your day. It was such an honor to be with you and your families again on such a special occasion. We wish you guys the very very best!

Two weekends ago we headed back to Fort Benton for Erich & Kaela’s gorgeous fall wedding. We have been to the Fort Benton & Highwood communities many times for weddings over the past couple of years and we always love going back (it’s so fun to give our past and to-be brides a hug!). This time it was Erich & Kaela’s turn to celebrate—and what a celebration it was! These two were high school sweethearts so their family & friends have had eight and a half years to anticipate this day – how cool is that?!:) It was clear that everyone around them was super happy for this couple and so excited for their big day:)
Erich & Kaela chose our multi-day wedding package so we arrived to cover their rehearsal and rehearsal dinner on Friday and then captured their entire wedding day on Saturday. From getting ready with the girls in Kaela’s childhood bedroom, to taking pictures at the Grand Union Hotel, to the traditional Catholic mass ceremony, to the gorgeous reception at the Agricultural Museum in Fort Benton (the space there had been completely transformed with black pipe and drape, fuschia and purple details, and GOBS of stunning fresh flowers—wow), to all of the Etsy- and Pinterest-inspired details, it was a spectacular wedding from start to finish. We were hosted at the Grand Union Hotel along with many of the guests and the wedding couple (oh how I LOVE the Grand Union!); and we were even invited to brunch on Sunday (thanks you guys – that was SO thoughtful!:).
All in all, the details, food, music, and décor were incredible, but it was the love between Erich & Kaela and the love and support from all of their family and friends that truly made this such a special weekend. We felt very lucky to be there!
Erich & Kaela – we wish you guys the best – thank you for letting us be a part of your special day!

Read MoreJason & Jaimie – Fall Wedding at Kleffner Ranch – Helena MT Wedding Photographer
What do you get when you cross a beautiful fall day, two people very much in love, tons of handmade, DIY details, lots of family and friends, and a bus from Canada (full of the afore mentioned family & friends)? Why, Jason & Jaimie’s gorgeous fall wedding at Kleffner Ranch of course!
I’ve been working with Jaimie for over a year now and I know how very excited she and Jason were for their wedding – and how hard they [and many of their family and friends] worked on all of the details for this day. From the Blessing Branches and pumpkins, to the wooden Signing Bench and custom coloring books, to the personalized wine glasses and wine bottle covers (that also doubled as table labels), to the completely personalized photo booth and the swing hanging from the rafters, to the dessert table (oh my, the dessert table…oh my, oh my, oh my) and the “Hello Grandma” sign, everywhere you looked were more details that celebrated this couple, their personalities, and their love. [Jaimie also admits to a **leetle** bit of Pinterest obsession—but I just kept thinking that this whole wedding needed to be on Pinterest – for everyone else’s inspiration!:)]
But this day wasn’t just about details – it was also about relationships. It started off when Jaimie cried before seeing her dad for the first time – and everyone around her cried too – and it ended with sweet speeches and a sparkler send-off. In between there was lots of laughter, a Boot Game, some photo booth pictures, LOTS of dancing, quite a few happy tears, and just a *few* pictures:) It was quite the awesome day!
Jason & Jaimie – thank you so much for letting us play a part in your special day.

Read MoreMitch & Erica – Mountain Top Wedding – Holland Lake Wedding Photography
Sometimes the things you wish to write about are so big and full of emotion that it’s hard to know where to start…. How to describe the relationship I have with my little sister – my best friend, confidant, cheerleader, voice of reason, semi-twin…? [Whew. Fan at eyes. Breathe. Smile. Breathe. Continue.] How to describe the relationship she has with Mitch – their joyful, fulfilling, love-filled partnership…? How to describe how it feels to stand on the top of a mountain with a waterfall roaring at your back, and say the words that help join two people’s lives? How to describe how it feels to witness God’s incredible creation all around you and His love, not only in the promise of the two people joining their lives, but also in all of the relationships around you?
Pretty impossible to describe. But truly awesome to experience.
On September 21st, 2012 my little sister Erica got married to her honey Mitch. They planned an incredibly intimate celebration that was so very genuine and perfect for the two of them. They invited their immediate families (which made for a party of thirteen adults and one 4-year old) and they planned for us all to hike up to Holland Falls for the wedding ceremony and then for us to spend the weekend together at Holland Lake Lodge.
It was truly a celebration of those things that make life most rich: love and family, joy and laughter. We hiked to Holland Falls for their ceremony and then “yahoo-d” and cheered for Erica & Mitch’s first kiss as husband and wife. We drank Champaign on top of the world and Scotch back at camp. We played beanbag toss & frisbee in the sunshine and paddled our canoes and kayaks on the breathtakingly still lake. We ate LOTS of super yummy food at the Lodge and sang & danced by the firelight. We hung out in our jammies and swimming suits during the day and got dressed up for dinner (well, us girls got dressed up, the boys got to wear whatever they wanted;). We laughed and laughed and laughed [and laughed] and we cried happy tears for two of our most favorite people in the whole wide world.
Erica and Mitch – there are not enough words for me to express how happy I am for the two of you, and how very much I love you. Blessings blessings blessings upon this happy happy union. xoxoxx
And now, because I can’t help myself, here is a *tiny* bit longer blog post than normal…:)
The happy bride (this is her “eeeeeeeek!!!!! I’m so excited!!!!” face:)
Mommy & Daughter
(this one gets me every time…oh *sniff*)
Seeing my sister so happy…well, there really aren’t words…tears maybe, but no words:)
(and are you all so proud of me for not just blubbering like an idiot through this whole day?!?!?!?! Whew.)
And I think the Groom is equally happy:)
Gorgeousness.
Ug. I loooooooove this picture [and how about this dress!!!! which we found during an AWESOME trip to Eskay Bridal in Bozeman, MT - a little shout-out to those girls who helped us - thanks for such a fabulous experience ladies!:)]
This one makes me smile. Every. Single. Time!:)
Awwwwww….
And a few more of the happy happy couple….
Two of my favorite girls in the whole wide world!
So different to be on THIS side of the camera!!!:)
The beautiful hike up to Holland Falls.
The Hand-Off:)
The Prayer.
The Top of the World.
The Laughter.
The Love.
The Flower Girl!:)
The Happy Couple.
The WHOOOOOOOOHOOOO!
And then the next day we did a Rock the Dress session in Holland Lake.
Yeah.
****swoon****
And just a couple more:)
I love you two.
