M Family – Outdoor Family Pictures – Helena, MT Photographer

Posted by in Family Portraits

This darling family.

I love them so much!!!

Terah has been one of my dearest friends for years and years now.  We were friends before either of us had kiddos – so I have watched and loved as these three have grown from tiny babies to mischievous toddlers to little people with wonderfully distinct personalities.  And I’ve been lucky enough to have captured many of those moments with my camera (want to see some from the MLP vault?  check out THIS and THIS and THIS and THIS…ok, I have more but that seems sufficient for now, lol).

Suffice to say that taking these pictures is a great honor – and sooooo much fun.

Can’t wait for our next one M Family!! ***mwah***

D Family – Outdoor Family Pictures – Helena, MT Photographer

Posted by in Family Portraits

The D Family is near and dear to my heart—not only because I got to Kendra’s Senior Pictures last fall, but also because mom Michelle is our amazing pediatrician {{let me tell ya peeps, she’s the best!! She is so kind and thorough and patient AND she stoic-ly puts up with my crazy mom-questions and worries, lol}}.  So to get to do their family pictures was an extra-special treat!

I know we all say it allllllll the dang time, but it’s SO true that life goes by WAY too fast. And I think sometimes we are so so good at capturing all of the baby and toddler moments…and then we just get busy…or think our “babies” aren’t changing **that** much anymore…. But if you’ve ever looked at start of the year school pictures and then end of the school year pictures, you know what I mean when I say that even our older children still change tremendously. So I especially love it when families document their lives well past the baby and toddler stage!

Perfect case in point: Michelle has one baby who’s getting married this fall, and another baby who’s heading off to college, and another baby who will be starting his second year of middle school. And I know she will always be so glad to have these memories of her {almost grown-up} babies!

We lucked out with an absolutely gorgeous day at a gorgeous location and I truly loved capturing these memories for this family.

S Family – Outdoor Summer Pictures – Helena MT Family Photography

Posted by in Family Portraits

Four years ago we had the honor of photographing Andrew & Mindy’s kick a** wedding. Since then I’ve lost count of the number of photo sessions we’ve done together (I honestly tried to count just now – and I couldn’t, there are just toooo many, lol). Rock the Dress and {multiple} Maternity and {several} newborn sessions and LOTS {and lots!} of family pictures.  I even had the honor of documenting the arrival of their sweet girl P with an incredible Birth Photography experience.

And in between photo sessions we love hanging out and eating yummy food and drinking adult beverages and laughing (and laughing) and snuggling babies and texting dumb stuff to each other that makes no sense whatsoever but makes us laugh even more.  I value our friendship so very very much.

And I loooooove taking their pictures! The number of moving little ones has increased exponentially, and Miss P likes to thwart her mommy’s best attempts to get her to look at the camera, but regardless we always have a blast:)

This session was no exception – and we threw their two dogs in just to make sure that we adults were *completely* outnumbered by fast-moving beings who have no interest in pictures. Haha!! ;)

But I think you’ll agree – these pictures, and this family, are absolutely faaaaabulous:)

First up:  the Big Guy.

{seriously…he’s getting SO BIG – ack!!  And those big brown eyes – to die for, right?!}

{who, with her baby fly-away hair and peaches & cream skin, toooootally reminds me of a woodland nymph in these pictures!}

This.

Probably one of the funniest pictures I’ve taken in a long time.  Seeeeeeriously.  It. Makes. Me. Giggle. Every. Single. Time.  !!!!! :) :)

{the expression, the eyebrows, the stalk of grass, the hair – bwhahahaaa!!!}

And this – can’t you just see it as a huge canvas on the wall?

Not perfect.  No big smiles.

Just….  Right.

B Family – Summer Family Pictures and Irish Dance Pictures – Helena, MT Photographer

Posted by in Family Portraits

I have a very big soft spot in my heart for this family. This is our beloved Mrs. B – Claire’s wonderful Kindergarten teacher! She made Claire’s first year of school incredibly positive and rich with SO many amazing experiences. We will be forever grateful to Mrs. B for giving Claire such an empowering and FUN year. [plus I honestly think Kindergarten teachers in general deserve a sainthood – seriously people – have you thought about what they do on a daily basis?????? Sainthood. Or at the very least a special parking spot at the grocery store…. Or at the very very least our gratitude and thanks. So thank a Kindergarten teacher today – that’s my PSA:)]

But my history with this family goes back even further than that. For not only was Mrs. B Claire’s Kindergarten teacher, I also taught both of her daughters in my 7th grade biology class! AND my mom taught both of the girls in her 3rd grade class. HOW CRAZY IS THAT?!? So my mom had Megan & Jamie in class, then I had them both in middle school, and then their mom ends up being Claire’s first ever teacher!!! Wowsa, right?! :)

So needless to say, I was absolutely THRILLED to have the chance to take family pictures for them! And we had so much fun – SO much fun. There was laughter and teasing and Irish Dance leaping and stories about school and stories about life – and the bittersweet feelings of a family who love each other so very much and who are excited about, but also dreading the fact that one of their daughters is headed off to college this fall. {all of the mommies in the house: **oh!! sniffsniff** right??}

Pictures of family are so valuable – at every point in life.  And it was truly my honor to capture this time in the B Family’s life.

So. Here is my very special B Family – just for you:)

Multi-Generation Family Pictures – Winter Family Pictures – Helena, MT Photographer

Posted by in Family Portraits

I got a call from Kirsi several weeks ago about the upcoming visit of her mom and sister – who were coming to visit from FINLAND!  She wanted family pictures with them while they were in Montana and she was reeeeeeeally hoping for some gorgeous pictures in the Montana snow.

Well, not only did we totally hit the jackpot as far as snow was concerned (which, with our funky way-warmer-than-normal winter we’ve been having, is quite the accomplishment in and of itself!) we also hit on a deliciously mild day with tons of warm sunshine.  Fa-a-abulous!!

Now, you might be wondering about the Finland connection.  It all started back in high school when Kirsi came to Capital High School on a foreign exchange.  While here she met Eric, and the rest, as they say, is history;)  Now they have a darling little family – and since Kirsi loooooves pictures and loooooves to scrapbook, getting everyone together for pictures when Grandma and Auntie were visiting was a must!

Our session was spent laughing at the language barrier, laughing at the snowballs (dude, Little Man is a crack shot with snowballs!), and with Grandma counting each picture as I rapid-fired them during group shots (all the better to get ***one*** with everyone’s eyes open, lol).

I had such a blast with these guys and I think the pictures truly show what a close and loving family they are–even though they are separated by thousands of miles most of the time.

{oh, ***sniff*** right?!}

As for this one, Little Man filled me in on what’s really going down with his fam ***just*** before this picture was taken!  Their reaction was priceless:)

(and isn’t his expression just the perfect cat-who-caught-the-canary grin?! lol)

Then, of course, we had to squeeze in some of just the Little Man.

When we first broke away to do some of those shots I was getting quite the serious expressions….

But when we started talking about school, we discovered our mutual love for Science and he started telling me some great stories….

And THEN when we started yelling “FROG DISSECTION!!!!!” as loud as possible across the lake I got some honest-to-goodness giggles! [erm, yeah, I realize that doesn’t make much sense…you just kinda had to be there;)]

Yeah, *actual* grins are kinda my jam. :) :)
