Scott & Erin – Cathedral and Kleffner Ranch Wedding – Helena, MT Wedding Photography

Posted by in Wedding Photography

Scott and Erin are both from Canada but they chose to have their destination wedding in Montana to take advantage of our wonderful scenery and awesome venues. So it broke my heart when I woke up on their wedding day to one of the coldest, rainiest, icky-ist August days I’ve seen in a very long time. I think the high was 45 degrees, it was raining raining raining, and the clouds were so low in the sky that you couldn’t even see the mountains. Boo!:( Honestly I expected to show up at the hotel to take preparation pictures of the girls and to find Erin [understandably] terribly upset—but instead she greeted me with a big hug and a smile. This was one girl who wasn’t going to let the rain ruin her day!

And what a day it was! From Erin’s exquisite dress (it was breath-taking, seriously breath-taking!), to the matching Tiffany bracelets and necklaces for the bridesmaid gifts, to the many happy tears during the ceremony at the Cathedral, to all of the crazy toasting and dancing that went on in the Kleffner Ranch barn, this was a group that knew how to have FUN!

So, was there rain almost all day?

Yep.

Did it ruin one iota of Scott and Erin’s fabulous wedding?

NOPE!:)

From the first pictures at the hotel to the last pictures at the reception it was a day filled with laughter and love—and we were just glad to be along for the ride!

Scott & Erin – thank you so much for asking us to be a part of your wedding. Will & Carly – Cathedral of St. Helena and Civic Center Wedding – Helena MT Wedding Photographer

Posted by in Wedding Photography

Sometimes you meet someone and you are almost instant friends…such was the story with Carly and me.  Suffice to say the two of us have shared, ahem, a **few** bottles of wine together over the past year.  Which meant that I was doubly excited for her wedding, because as her photographers and as her friend I knew that this was a day Carly has dreamt of since she was a little tiny girl.  And I also knew that Will is absolutely head-over-heels for this girl and that he was equally excited to begin their married life together.

As is to be expected when you are working with two people who are as nice as these two (and as in love as these two) I wasn’t the only one who had been anticipating this day.  Will and Carly were surrounded by friends and family who were so excited and happy for this union.  When I say there was hardly a dry eye in the Cathedral (which was full.  Full.  As in, there was hardly an empty seat.  Do you know how big that church is?!?) I literally mean almost everyone shed at least a little tear.   Including Father Marc Lenneman (I think you get bonus points if you can make your priest tear up at your wedding, yes?:).

So from the beginning hours of getting ready at  her cousin Carmen’s beautiful house (with tons of yummy food and lots of laughter), to Carly’s dad seeing her for the first time (he cried, Carly cried, her mom cried, I cried.  Yep.  Me crying.  Shocking, I know;), to the pictures and ceremony at the Cathedral (I’ll never get tired of shooting at that church!), to the way the rain stopped and the ugly gray clouds rolled away for our outdoor pictures (as if on cue, ahhhhhmazing!), to the vintage baby blue Chrysler getaway car, to the stunning reception at the Civic Center (the details, ack! the details!).   The whole day pretty much went like this:  happy people, lots of hugs & laughter, more laughter, more hugs, and many many happy tears.  It was a truly beautiful day – in every sense of the word.

Will and Carly, honestly, it was such an honor.  We wish you guys blessings and blessings and blessings.

***mwah***

PS Carly – I’ve got a bottle of wine with our name on it just waiting for the perfect evening to enjoy it!;)

PPS To Carly’s Girlies – It was awesome.  Seriously.   You are officially required to make a date with Carly & me the next time you’re in town, K?

PPPS  To the Meg(h)an’s – Not it!

Without further ado, I would like to open voting on the next Scott vs. Megan Contest for 2013!!!!!  Woot-to-the-hoo

Don & Sarah – Cathedral and Windsor Ballroom Wedding – Helena MT Wedding Photography

Posted by in Wedding Photography

We got to be with Don & Sarah and all of their friends and family on Saturday as they celebrated their beautiful wedding here in Helena.  These two met at Carroll College and, oh-so appropriately, their wedding featured some of the very best spots in and around downtown Helena:  the Carolina’s Bed & Breakfast, the Cathedral, Reeder’s Alley, the Windsor Ballroom, and even the Blackfoot Brewery (yep, the full wedding party, the trolley, the bride & groom, and Scott & I and our big ol’ cameras all descended on the Blackfoot to get some pictures for Don & Sarah at one of their most favorite places in Helena—and a huge shout-out to the staff at the Blackfoot Brewery and all of the patrons who were there that day for being so super cool with our craziness!  As requested, I’ll definitely be sending you guys some pics for your bulletin board:).  Talk about an awesome day! (we even avoided the rain that had been predicted all day – yeehaw!:)

Scott and I had so much fun hanging out with this crew.  Don & Sarah looooooove photos and they had so many small special details to their day (an heirloom wedding ring, rosary, and earrings, and very specific & meaningful choices of the flowers & feathers in the bouquets and boutineers, just to name a few).

From the super-thoughtful Bridal Party to the super-funny Groomsmen to the super-dancing crowd, it was clear that Don & Sarah are very much loved and very much supported by their wonderful friends & family.

All in all, it was a very special day and we felt very lucky to be a part of it!:)

Soooooooo, here’s the part where I give you the run-down for this week’s Scott vs. Megan Contest!  Scott and I have chosen a few of our favorite images from Don & Sarah’s wedding and now we want to know which image is your favorite!  Voting is easy:  just comment below and tell us the Image Number of your favorite picture – Image Numbers are listed ABOVE each pic (bonus question:  why is it your favorite??:).  Serious bragging rights are on the line for Scott and me (I won the last Contest so Scott is hoping to tie things up for the season!)—PLUS every vote is helping Don & Sarah earn credits toward a beautiful mounted print from their wedding.   Spread the word to your family & friends—the more votes the merrier!—and happy voting!!:)

Kevin & Kirstin – Cathedral of St. Helena and Kleffner Ranch Wedding – Helena MT Photographers

Posted by in Wedding Photography

It’s heeeeeeerrrrrreee!  The 2012 MLP Wedding Season that is:)  Yep, we kicked the season off on Saturday with Kevin & Kirstin’s gorgeous Memorial Day wedding – and I cannot think of a better way to start the year!  Kevin & Kirstin are an incredible couple (Kirstin and I originally bonded over us both being just a *tiny* bit Type A and we’ve just gotten along swimmingly every since:-) and the weather may not have cooperated (…um, yeeeeaaaahhh, classic understatement of the world…) but that didn’t stop Kevin & Kirstin or any of their friends and family from celebrating their day with lots of joy & laughter (and lots and lots of dancing!).

The ceremony was held in the incredible Cathedral of St. Helena, and since Kirstin grew up attending mass there it made that location even more special.  Their rustic chic reception was held out at the Kleffner Ranch and there were so so many handmade details – from the bridesmaids’ clutches to the cupcake platters.  Soooo cool!  Their family and friends travel to Montana from all over the world to help them celebrate (yeah, from all over the world!  Korea took the cake [ah ha, no pun intended] for the farthest traveled, but there was a strong Germany contingency there as well).  And let me tell you, these people sure knew how to have a good time!  With the band The Mighty Flick playing one 80’s song after another the dance floor was never empty.

As I mentioned, the one tiny wrinkle in the day was the weather – after enjoying soooo much sunshine and super warm weather over the past couple of weeks the forty degree temps and rain seemed especially unfair….  But these two just rolled with it.  If I hadn’t already thought that Kevin & Kirstin were awesome & totally grounded, their focus on the truly important aspects of their day [instead of the crummy weather] would have sealed the deal.  {PLUS – we were able to do an incredible Rock the Dress session yesterday – and I can’t WAIT to share those images with you guys, eeekkk! – the weather was absolutely dreamy and the pictures are stu.u.ning.  Stay tuned next week for that Sneak Peek!}

All in all it was an incredibly beautiful day for a truly awesome couple.  Kevin & Kirstin – thank you so much for letting us be a part of your wedding!

Sooooooo, I know you all have been waiting (and waiting!) for the return of the Scott vs. Megan Contests….  Well, the wait is officially over!  Yeah baby!:)

Here’s how it works:  Scott and I have chosen a few of our favorite images from Kevin & Kirstin’s wedding and now we want to know which image is your favorite!  Voting is easy:  just tell us the NUMBER of your favorite picture (you’ll be able to leave your comment all the way at the end of the post:).  Serious bragging rights are on the line for Scott and me—PLUS every vote is helping Kevin & Kirstin earn credits toward a beautiful mounted print from their wedding.   Spread the word to your family & friends—the more votes the merrier!—and happy voting!!:)

Just a quick note:  sometimes the Facebook comment window loads a little slow (ok, sometimes a lot slow) – if your browser is still “thinking” the comments are still loading…sorry for the hassle!  If you get an error message of any kind try refreshing this site to see if that helps.  You can also vote on the MLP Page on Facebook by commenting on your favorite picture in Kevin & Kirstin’s album (the same pictures as the ones below:)  If you’re not already a fan you’ll need to become one to comment:  http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150830798467447.394079.248043992446&type=1
