Derek & Kassie – Grand Union Hotel & Ag Museum Wedding – Fort Benton MT Wedding Photography

Posted by in Wedding Photography

Our second home {wedding-wise} has to be Fort Benton, MT. In the past nine years we’ve photographed EIGHT weddings for this wonderful community (which is pretty crazy if you know what a small town it is;). And allllllll of those weddings are connected by some kind of family relationship &/or friendship, which just makes it all the more special for us. Because, really, is there any greater honor than being asked back to the same family or friend group to capture memories for them on their wedding day??? We think not:)

So you can imagine our delight when we were asked to photograph Derek & Kassie’s wedding. We photographed Derek’s sister Kayla’s wedding several years ago and we were absolutely thrilled to be working with their family again!

We’ve come to expect certain things at our Fort Benton weddings: friendly ,fun-loving family members and guests, lots of hugs from past clients, amazing food, impressive jitterbugging, and crazy weather of some kind (downpours, monsoons, hurricane force winds, snow). Amazingly, at Derek & Kassie’s wedding we had all of those things EXECPT for the crazy weather. Yes, seriously!! Following several days of dreary rainy days and lots of wind (that was making me preeeeetty nervous) their wedding day turned out perfectly dreamy. Consider us properly shocked, lol.

It was also a day filled with lots of love and laughter and support for this awesome couple. You could just feel how happy and excited everyone was for them!

Kassie and Derek, thank you so much for asking us to be a part of your big day. We had an amazing time and we couldn’t be happier for the two of you!!

Enjoy this little Sneak Peek – soooooo many more to come!

Fred & Jacey – Fort Benton Winter Wedding – Fort Benton MT Wedding Photography

Posted by in Wedding Photography

Fred and Jacey got married on a gorgeous Saturday in December in Fort Benton, MT and what a wonderful day it was!  This was a wedding we’ve been looking forward to for quite a while, as it was the THIRD Ritland Family wedding we’ve done in the past 18 months!  Yeah, wowsa!  We did Michael & Sarah’s wedding last October (Sarah is Jacey’s sister), then we did Brett & Jessalyn’s wedding this summer (Brett is Jacey’s brother) and now it was Fred & Jacey’s turn to celebrate!  But we were far from the only ones who were excited for this wedding.  Fred & Jacey’s family and friends were so so happy for the couple and were clearly very excited to be celebrating the wedding of these two high school sweethearts.

From working with Fred and Jacey at our previous weddings, and from their super fun engagement session this summer(seriously, if you haven’t seen these pics you MUST check them out – we traveled all over Fred’s family ranch and the scenery and pictures are seriously swoon-worthy!) I knew that we were going to have a BLAST at their wedding.  And boy was I right!  Talk about the perfect end to our 2012 year of weddings:)

Jacey had her heart set on getting some outdoor winter wedding pictures (we were also super excited for that!).  Unfortunately the snow didn’t exactly cooperate (there really wasn’t any on the ground, even though it was cold enough to have ice floating by in the Missouri River – brrrr).  But we did get out in the beautiful winter sunshine to take the Bride & Groom pictures and the Wedding Party pictures.  And I must point out that the only nod Jacey made to the 20-degree weather was her fabulous faux fur shrug.  She didn’t even wear boots!  Nope, this bride rocked sexy strappy high heels the whole day!:)  And when the bridesmaids joined us outside they didn’t even wear their shrugs but not ONCE did I hear even a whisper of a complaint.  They were all there 100% for Fred & Jacey.  Very very awesome.

Of course, the rest of the day was just as fabulous – from getting ready in the gorgeous suite at the Grand Union Hotel, to the beautiful ceremony at the United Methodist Church, to the rockin reception at the Fort Benton Agricultural Museum (Dude.  Could this crowd ever jitterbug!!!!).  It was truly a special day for a very special couple.

Fred & Jacey – thank you for inviting us to share your day.  It was such an honor to be with you and your families again on such a special occasion.  We wish you guys the very very best!

Erich & Kaela – Fall Fort Benton Wedding – Fort Benton MT Wedding Photographers

Posted by in Wedding Photography

Two weekends ago we headed back to Fort Benton for Erich & Kaela’s gorgeous fall wedding.  We have been to the Fort Benton & Highwood communities many times for weddings over the past couple of years and we always love going back (it’s so fun to give our past and to-be brides a hug!).  This time it was Erich & Kaela’s turn to celebrate—and what a celebration it was!  These two were high school sweethearts so their family & friends have had eight and a half years to anticipate this day – how cool is that?!:)  It was clear that everyone around them was super happy for this couple and so excited for their big day:)

Erich & Kaela chose our multi-day wedding package so we arrived to cover their rehearsal and rehearsal dinner on Friday and then captured their entire wedding day on Saturday.  From getting ready with the girls in Kaela’s childhood bedroom, to taking pictures at the Grand Union Hotel, to the traditional Catholic mass ceremony, to the gorgeous reception at the Agricultural Museum in Fort Benton (the space there had been completely transformed with black pipe and drape, fuschia and purple details, and GOBS of stunning fresh flowers—wow),  to all of the Etsy- and Pinterest-inspired details, it was a spectacular wedding from start to finish.  We were hosted at the Grand Union Hotel along with many of the guests and the wedding couple (oh how I LOVE the Grand Union!); and we were even invited to brunch on Sunday (thanks you guys – that was SO thoughtful!:).

All in all, the details, food, music, and décor were incredible, but it was the love between Erich & Kaela and the love and support from all of their family and friends that truly made this such a special weekend.  We felt very lucky to be there!

Erich & Kaela – we wish you guys the best – thank you for letting us be a part of your special day!

OK you guys, this officially opens the next Scott vs. Megan Contest for voting!!  Here’s how it works:  Scott and I have each chosen a few of our favorite images from Erich & Kaela’s wedding and now we want to know which image is your favorite!  Voting is easy:  just comment below and tell us the Image Number of your favorite picture (Image Numbers are above each picture).

Scott vs. Megan Contest Winners – Brett & Jessalyn and Tony & Carole

Posted by in Specials, Announcements, Fun Stuff, Wedding Photography

So, um, confession time….  I have been very very (very!) bad at keeping up on the Scott vs. Megan Contest “who won” posts.  I’m sure all of you awesome peeps out there who voted, and all of you loyal blog readers, were (rightly so!) kinda wondering what-the-heck??  And for that I apologize!  Honestly, this summer has been just a leetle bit crazy – in an awesome-boy-am-I-taking-a-LOT-of-pictures kind of way – but it does mean that some Blogging balls have to be put down [temporarily of course!] so that I make sure all of my clients are getting the love and attention they deserve.  But I do want to say a big huge THANKS for your patience:)

Sooooooo, without further ado, I have TWO S vs. M Contest results to share with you! (that rhymes, heehee)

First up is Brett & Jessalyn’s awesome Highwood/Fort Benton wedding.  Voting was super close on this one – there was actually a three-way tie for most of the contest – but in the end Image #7 came out on top.  And I’m happy to report that I took that image!  Woot:)

Next up are the results from Tony & Carole’s fabulous Kleffner Ranch Wedding.  This one was pretty much a landslide with Image #11 as the clear winner (plus both the Bride & the Groom voted for this one so it should get bonus points or something, lol).  And that image was shot by Scott!  So congrats honey, it’s a gorgeous image!

And there you have it!  I am now up-to-date on my Scott vs. Megan Contest posts – er, that is, I will be completely up–to-date as soon as I post Drew & Karlee’s Contest (which is all written & uploaded, all I need to do is click “Post” – so stay tuned!:).

Fred & Jacey – Ranch Engagement Pictures – Fort Benton MT Wedding Photographer

Posted by in Engagement Pictures

If you’re a regular visitor to the MLP Blog you’ve heard me talk about Highwood and Fort Benton before – we’ve been lucky to do quite a few weddings for these communities over the past few years, and we have several more there again this year.   So imagine my delight when Jacey called me to say that she had just gotten engaged to Fred and she wanted us to photograph their Fort Benton wedding!  This was especially cool because Jacey is part of the Ritland crew, and after Fred & Jacey’s December wedding, (ok, ready for this mind-blowing fact……..) we’ll have photographed weddings for three of the Ritland siblings—in fourteen months (yeah, wowza!!).  We’re kind of starting to feel like family around there:)

Fred and Jacey wanted to have engagement pictures taken out at Fred’s family’s farm (the Spring Coulee Ranch)—and we were able to schedule their session for the day before Brett & Jessalyn’s wedding since we were already going to be in the Fort Benton area (if you’re trying to keep track, Brett is Jacey’s brother:).  I must admit that being asked to take pictures on a ranch in this area is pretty much a dream come true for me—there is something about the vast expanses of wheat fields and grazing land with the Highwood Mountains in the background that absolutely takes my breath away.  So to spend the afternoon with Fred & Jacey (who are so SO fun) traipsing around the bluffs and the fields was – well, super freakin’ awesome!:)

It didn’t hurt that they’d had quite a bit of rain lately so the green was almost glowing – and then you have Jacey with her fantastic sense of style and color – and, yeah, it could NOT have been better!!  And I think the pictures might give you a glimpse into what I’m talking about:)

Fred & Jacey – thanks for such an awesome session you guys!  It was soooooo much fun hanging out with you – I can’t wait for your wedding this winter!:)
