M Family – Outdoor Maternity Session – Helena, MT Photographer

Posted by in Maternity Photography

One of the greatest honors of my job is when I get to document a family as their littles grow and change over the years. The M Family is one that I’ve had in front of my camera **several** times now, and each time I’m more and more enchanted with Miss E’s oh-so grown-up poise and sweet sassiness and Mr. A’s gentle spirit and at-the-beginning-of-the-session-shy-smiles-growing-into-huge-confident-grins-by-the-end-of-our-pictures.

And now their family of four is soon to be a family of FIVE! Oh. The happiness!

Sara wanted to document this special time in their lives—these last weeks of anticipation and hurry-up-ed-ness. And {{lucky me!}} when Baby arrives I get to do Newborn pictures as well! While I wait for that text I get to share with you their amazing Maternity session.

“Hey Momma, whatcha got der?”

Snuggles!

Mommy’s a doctor, so Big Sis is in traning:)

Just.  Oh….!!!

This one just melts. my. heart.

M Family – as always, I had a blast with you guys and I seriously CAN’T wait to meet your new sweet babe.  Yay!!!!  Big hugs in these last weeks!

Steven & Stefanie – Outdoor Maternity Pictures – Helena, MT Photographer

Posted by in Maternity Photography

Oh baby baby! Steven & Stef are having a baby GIRL! Eeeeek!!!!

This baby bump has been so eagerly awaited by this wonderful couple and I couldn’t be more excited for them! You see, this is not the first time Steven and Stef and I have hung out—we’ve known each other for years now. And we actually survived a monsoon together. A monsoon which just so happened to be on their wedding day. Their wedding where we just so happened to be their photographers (yes I’m serious. picture proof: HERE). And after an {intense} bonding experience like that you pretty much ***have*** to be friends. Plus Stef and I like to laugh together and talk about babies and pregnancy and owning small businesses:)

And I get super giddy when I get to schedule outdoor fall maternity pictures with friends ***swoon***

Of course the Universe showed its sense of humor when we unloaded from our vehicles that afternoon only to feel it STARTING TO RAIN. {I kid you not} But I gave those dark clouds my very bestest don’t-you-dare-rain-on-this-parade-I’m-a-scary-photog-and-also-a-teacher-so-don’t-mess-with-us-today face.

It worked.

Cause if you have a monsoon on your wedding YOUR MATERNITY SESSION SHOULD NOT HAVE RAIN.

That’s a rule somewhere, right?

Anyhoo, the rest of the session was fantastically fun and the colors were dreamy and Steven and Stef were cuddly and now we have all of these yummy pictures.

Yay yay yay!!!

Stef and Steven – this baby girl is so lucky to be joining your family!  I’m so so happy for you and I can’t WAIT to meet your sweet girl!!!! xxo

Lindsey & Jesse – Outdoor Maternity Pictures – Helena, MT Baby Photographer

Posted by in Maternity Photography

I got to meet Lindsey & Jesse on a gorgeous sunny afternoon for their maternity pictures. They are expecting a baby girl in October and we’ve already booked the newborn session so it’s a special treat that I also get to take their baby bump pictures too!:)

Lindsey and Jesse are both from Superior, MT and have known each other since first grade. They confessed that they **briefly** dated in high school but it wasn’t until later in life that they started seeing each other seriously. Now they are married expecting their first child – so very cool!!

I really enjoyed spending the evening hanging out with these guys talking about taxes, the MT lottery, Lindsey being bad at everything related to math except for 0’s and 1’s, and why women are genetically superior to men. Sounds like fun, right!? Never a dull moment at my photo shoots, heehee:)

And then Jesse helped me figure out what to do about my dead-in-the-water iPhone so I might very well love him forever! #wasgoingstarkravingcrazywithoutmyphone

These guys are so excited to meet their sweet girl in a couple of months and I’m so happy we were able to document this part of their journey—and the journey to come!

The photographer in me would also like to point out that it doesn’t get much better than late summer sunshine on a gorgeous Montana evening….

***swoon***

Erica & Mitch – Studio Maternity Pictures – Helena, MT Baby Photographer

Posted by in Life, Joy, Laughter, Maternity Photography

My little sister.  My very best friend.

One of the people who knows me best in the whole wide world.

We are sisters who laugh at dumb things, talk for hours, dress up for no reason, and cuddle in the morning, cold toes tucked under a shared blanket while completely ignoring each other’s crazy bed-hair and mascara smudges.  We’ve gotten each other through our darkest seasons.  We’ve danced and squealed together in our times of joy.  We’ve biked to downtown Missoula [only once, and for the record I was afraid I was going to die].  We’ve drunk champagne on countless New Year’s Eves and “tasted” wine in southern France at 10:00 am.  She’s held me when I cried, and I’ve held her too.  We’ve dressed up identically for Halloween [only once, and for the record it completely freaked us out cause we really did look like twins].  We’ve had LOTS of adventures [Dixie Chicks and Zach Wild, hmmm?] and many more quiet nights in.

We are so very different; yet so very similar.

I love her more than words can express.

And she’s having a baby.  A baby girl!  I’ve felt her tummy move beneath my hand, those fluttering swirls and bumps making us both giggle.  I’ve watched her and Mitch anticipate this journey of parenthood.  I’ve prayed for her health and safety, and for the health and safety of this sweet baby girl.  Claire and I have shopped for [and awwww’d over] impossibly tiny onsies and incredibly soft sleepers.

And I got to take her maternity pictures over Christmas break.

There really aren’t words….

But I’m trying!  I really am.

Because I know that while I managed to pull it together for this post (and also their wedding post, whew)…I’m anticipating that words will truly fail me when this baby arrives (in late February or early March – eeeeek!) and after taking newborn photos I will sit before this same computer screen and try to organize my thoughts into something other than tears of joy.

Gulp.

So now I try to scoop this love – this so wide, so deep, so unconditional feeling – onto this page.  For my sister.  For our families.  For you, dear reader.  For Erica’s daughter, my niece, who will read this, someday.

And it’s a pale representation for sure.  But she knows.

My sister knows.

I love you Bug.  I love you so so so much.  And I’m so excited to be Auntie to this little girl.

I’m so incredibly happy for you and Mitchie.

xxxooooooo

And then a nice smiley face picture for the grandparents-t0-be!:)

Oh baby…!

OK.

And this is where I REALLY start to get teary-eyed….

Just.

Oh.

Serenity and joy.

Expectation.

Blessings.

Breathless waiting

Little sister of mine.

And then, this.

This is where I lose it.

Completely.

My sweet baby girl.  My sweet sister and her sweet baby-to-be.

Me:  Bawling.

[Thankfully not while taking the picture!  I actually managed to take these images without breaking down…it was only later while editing.  I got to this picture…and, well, just lost it.]

Whew.

And then, as if Mitchie knew I would need to be pulled back from the brink of ***Super Ugly Cry*** he gave me an out-take that, well, is pretty freakin fabulous.

heehee :)

Love love LOVE you guys so so SO much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Terah, Baby Bump, & Siblings – Maternity Studio Photos – Helena MT Maternity Photography

Posted by in Maternity Photography

Terah and Mike and little Miss J were some of my very first photography clients waaaaaay back “when,” so that makes it especially special to be taking maternity pictures for their third baby. (but I must say that it doesn’t seem possible that Miss J is turning SIX this summer – ACK!!)   Of course, the fact that Terah and I have been very good friends since long before any of us had any babies, and that we’ve come through many years of all kinds of life events together only makes it more special.  I am so very very excited for this baby that will make them a happy family of five.  Oh!  ***goosebumps*** :)

Terah came to her maternity session with Miss J and Mr. E and they were amazing.  As in “hey guys can you come over here for a second and do xyz” and – get this – they would DO IT.  Every time.  Ahhhhhmazing.  I only had to do one little tiny bribe for Mr. E, just at the very end of the session.  Um.  That’s got to be a record, yo!

It was SUCH a fun session.  Gorgeous baby bump.  Gorgeous mommy-to-be.  Gorgeous kiddos.

My job rocks:)

Such grins!!:)

(this one absolutely melts my heart…!)

“Give Mommy a kiss you guys!” says me.  Just once.  And they do.  At the same time.

Seriously?

Score:)

Awwwwww….

Terah & Mike – I’m so excited for you guys and I can’t wait to meet this baby!  Miss J and Mr. E – thank you for being so awesome.  I had so much fun with you guys!  And yes, I’m already looking forward to this newborn session:)
