K Family – Fall Pictures – Helena MT Family Photography
I met up with the K Family last week to play around in the gorgeous not-very-fall-at-all weather. I was immediately smitten with Mr. L’s goooooorgeous curls (and I coveted his momma’s boots…but that’s a whole ‘nuther story:). While trying to make friends with L I discover he has the most ah-mazing imagination. When I asked him if I had a caterpillar on my lens not only did he look my way (the purpose of the trick) he then proceeded to “see” my caterpillar and give my caterpillar a name and see my caterpillar go flying up into the trees and then feel my caterpillar tickling his neck (causing many giggles). It. Was. Awesome! And it didn’t end with my caterpillar, L also was a dinosaur and a kitty and…well, to be honest I kind of lost track of all the different games we played and all of the different things this little man became throughout our session. Suffice to say it was awesome watching the wheels turn in his little head and just seeing what he had up his sleeve next.
And as you can see from our pictures, we had just a leetle bit of fun:)
I love Daddy. And he loves me.
OK. This. Seriously. Happened. And I would blow this up and have it as a huge canvas in my living room, cause, really, how fabulous is this?!?
I love Mommy. And she loves me.
(and that little bit of peek-a-boo belly just kills the mommy in me!)
You can almost hear the little-boy-playing sounds, yes?
Fall. Sunshine. Tackles. Giggles. Wonderfulness.
There is laughter…and then there’s laughter.
And there’s really no better sound (or picture) in the world!
And this. Well this just melts my heart right into my toes….
Thanks for SUCH a fun session K Family – I can’t wait to show you the rest of your pictures next week!!!:)

Sometimes when couples are planning their wedding from a long way away [like, oh, say from HAWAII] it doesn’t work for us to get together for their engagement session until right before their wedding. Such was the case with Drew & Karlee—which meant that a couple days before their beautiful Green Meadow Country Club wedding we got to meet up at Reeder’s Alley to take some fun engagement pictures.
It was obvious that these two had been spending their days busy with family and friends and all of those crazy last-minute details that weddings always generate. So to have some time for just the two of them (well, plus one blond girl with a camera, lol) was pretty perfect timing. They were able to spend some time hanging out and playing with pictures while taking a bit of a break from all the busyness.
As for me, I love hanging out with couples who are so very much in love and capturing not only their love and smiles but also capturing that sense of anticipation that goes along with being engaged and being soooooo close to embarking on one of life’s greatest journeys. It was obvious how very much in love these two are – and how much they are looking forward to spending the rest of their lives together. Very cool stuff indeed:)
Drew & Karlee – thanks for such a fun session (and such an awesome wedding!!) you guys! Your Engagement slideshow will be ready very soon!:)

I first photographed little Miss H when she was a teeny tiny newborn almost exactly one year ago – and then we got to play again at her 6-month session this winter. But now it is time for her ONE YEAR session already! Ohmigoodness time goes so quickly!! That sweet baby girl is now an oh-so-darling look-at-me-GO one-year old. She also has a full head of soft little cherub curls. Yes, cherub curls – check ’em out! (I know, seriously? As if those big dark eyes weren’t cute enough!!!)
She and her mommy & daddy (and mini-entourage:) drove over from Butte for her one-year pictures last week and under the cover of the shady trees I got to learn all about Miss H and her current interests/loves/obsessions. Pinecones rated very high on the list, as did anything shiny (including her rhinestone studded belt and any garbage lying around the ground, lol). Her pink rocking horse Diamond was also a huge hit—and I just about died when her mommy showed me the miniature western onsie shirt complete with, wait for it, snap buttons! Ahhahaa!
But by far, the cuuu-u-uuutest thing of all was when any vehicle would drive by and Little Miss would pause, look after the car, wave her baby hand, and then blow a tiny kiss in their direction. Oh. My. Goodness.
Cherub curls for a cherub smile:
Sundress, dappled shade, tiny perfect person, bliss….
Her mommy & daddy think she’s pretty amazing too!
heehee:)
O.H. Goodness.
Happiness is a fresh summer afternoon, sunshine, and a Daddy who will lift you to the sky….
[Pink] Tootsies
Catch me if you can!
Ta-da!
To her mommy & daddy – it has been such an honor to take pictures for your family this past year. Your daughter is an absolute delight!!! Looking forward to seeing you all again at Kyle & Kim’s wedding this year:)

Josh & Courtney were the winners of our booth drawing at the Helena Bridal Fair for a free engagement session – lucky ducks! – and they came over from Missoula last week for their engagement session. When Courtney & I had scheduled this session back in January the idea was to schedule a beautiful spring session…which sounds lovely, right? Lo and behold, the day of their session arrives and it honestly felt like July—it was THAT hot. Luckily we were down in Reeder’s Alley where there is plenty of shade so we didn’t exactly melt (though I may have wilted just a leetle:). But who can complain about a no-wind-no-rain outdoor session in May? Not me, that’s for sure!!
Some of you Helena folks may recognize these two because they’re both originally from this area (in fact, when I first met Josh I thought he looked kind of familiar – and we think it might be because he was a Helena High track athlete around my brother’s age…??). They will be celebrating their wedding in August this year out at Kleffner Ranch and I know their day is going to be absolutely beautiful!
Josh & Courtney – I had a great time taking your engagement pictures. I hope the rest of your summer is wonderful and many blessings to you both as you begin your married life together!

Rain in February…in Montana. *enter confused face* Rain in February…in Montana…during an Engagement Session. *enter sad face* …OR you could be my awesome clients Thomas & Kirsten who instead said “let’s go for it!” So we did! And when I discovered that Kirsten not only had a cute umbrella in her car, but that cute umbrella was a vintage umbrella from her grandma (!) well, then I had to stop myself from swooning—cause, really, how cool is that?!! So off we went into the rainy afternoon—and amidst the oh!-I’m-so-sorry-honey-I-didn’t-mean-to-almost-poke-your-eye-out!’s [from Kirsten] and the oh!-I-love-this-so-much’s [from Megan] and the it’s-all-good-as-long-as-I-leave-here-with-both-eyes [from Thomas] we had a ball. Seriously. These guys are so much fun:) Thomas & Kirsten – I’ll hang out in the rain with you guys anytime! And I hope you love your Sneak Peek as much as I loved taking your pics:)
