Emily – Outdoor Senior Pictures – Helena, MT Photographer

Posted by in Senior Pictures

Oh this sweet girl…!!!  I remember her so well as a spunky, kindhearted 7th grader who came into my biology class every.single.day with a big bright smile.  And I remember her working SO hard on our Science Olympiad team and having so much fun on our trip to State.  And now she’s a SENIOR.  A Senior.  {{{how does this happen so quickly??  apparently I’m getting old because time is sure flying by, lol}}}

So you can imagine my delight when her mom emailed saying that Emily wanted me to take her Senior pictures.  Ohhhhh ***sniff***

We spent this gorgeous summer day (erm…….it was a pretty ridiculously hot day…….but the light was gorgeous so I kept telling her it would be worth it;) laughing and talking science and college and life (she wants to study GENETICS in college – oh! be still my heart!!).

We had so.much.fun!!

And the pictures……!!!!  So. Gorgeous. !!!

Zach – Outdoor Senior Pictures – Helena, MT Photographer

Zach and I met up for his Senior pictures last week and I have just one word to describe our session:

{ready? It’s a good one!}

The word is:

Mosquitos.

Yeah, I bet you weren’t expecting THAT one;)

But honestly, it was CR.AZ.Y.

Crazy people!!!!!!

Have you ever tried to hold still for a picture while being bitten by clouds of mosquitoes? How about smiling with a genuine smile? How about not grimacing in pain as they bite you or squinting terribly as they try to fly in your eyeball?

!!!!!!!!

[on the other side of the camera] How about holding the camera still long enough to TAKE the photo????

Good thing Zach is a good sport – and good thing we can both laugh (which we did – a lot;) at the ridiculous situation and at each other’s antics as we both tried to swat at and escape from all of those stupid bugs.

But between the bites we managed to get a ton of great photos (cause we’re both just that awesome, obviously:).

And the next day as I looked through the pictures (and itched my bites) I knew it had allllllll been worth it.

Thanks for an awesome session Zach – I had a ton of fun (but next time I’m bringing bug spray, mmmkay;).

Connor – Outdoor Senior Pictures – Helena, MT Photographer

What to do when you’re a 5’3” (ok ok, a 5’ 2.5”) photographer and you’re taking pictures for a 6’7” Senior….

Pick a location where you know you have some topography that will work in your favor, have the Senior sitting for some of the pictures, and bring your step ladder just in case!

Such was my preparation for this Senior session and it worked out great (I’m just glad his mom gave me a heads-up ahead of time! lol:)

Connor is a Senior at Capital High and along with playing basketball on the CHS team (shocking, I know) he also runs track—specifically the hurdles. I already knew he had Scott last year for ceramics so it didn’t surprise me at all to learn that he and Mr. Lane often discussed the hurdles. Buuuuut since I have none of those qualifications we pretty much stayed away from discussing anything specific about sports;)

Instead, we focused on taking pictures (easy for me) and palming the basketball (easy for Connor).

Win – win – win. :)

It’s time for Kendra’s Senior pictures Sneak Peek!

I met up with Kendra, her mom Michelle, and her good friend Abby (who I had in science class alllll those years ago;) at a brand new location I had scouted the week earlier. I was super excited about our shoot because A) the light was goooooorgeous and B) I always like playing in new spots! However, I *wasn’t* super excited about the heat and humidity and smoke (boo). But, we Montana girlies know how to make the best of any situation and Kendra and her crew were no exception to that rule!

And I think it’s safe to say that we all had a great time. We definitely laughed. A lot. Kendra and Abby were both in Scott’s class last year so we laughed about his sudden “mysterious” absence (when he just up and left with zero explanation to his students when the twins were being born;). We giggle about changing in parking lots, we joked about “real” smiles, and we laughed {a LOT} about my complete and utter lack of volleyball knowledge (seriously, it was bad! good thing I’m better at taking pictures than I am at sports-related knowledge, ha!).

There was also creek wading and tree climbing and grass laying and barefoot walking and best friend silliness.

It was awesome:)

Kendra – thanks for such a great session! I can’t wait to show you the rest of your pictures, but in the meantime enjoy your Sneak Peek!!:)
