It is always so special for me to be involved with couples that are getting married. I often work with them for a year (or more!) as they prepare for their big day: we take engagement pictures, we talk about their families and wishes and dreams, I kind of act as a planner by helping with the wedding-day schedule and picture lists and all of the other little details. And after all of this I am not only super excited for their wedding, I also feel that I’ve truly made new friends…. So when a mom places her hand to her heart as she sees her daughter as a bride for the first time it gives me goosebumps, and when the bride (or groom) tears up during the ceremony it makes me teary too, and when they laugh out loud at the funny or ridiculous thing that just happened I can feel myself grinning behind the camera, and during the father-daughter dance I am literally blinking away the tears. It really is a special relationship, one that I feel so honored to have…. And Thomas & Kirsten’s day is a perfect example of how that relationship grows & becomes special.
I remember meeting these two at our very first meeting and when Kirsten pulled out all of her folders and clippings and information I thought to myself “oh yeah! A girl after my own heart!” (cause those of you who know me know that I do loves me some organization, yes I do!). And then the wedding planning progressed, and the engagement pictures were taken (see their super fun pics here!), and the details were figured out…and before we knew it we were taking pictures on The BIG Day!
And what a day it was! Thomas & Kirsten got married at gorgeous Kleffner Ranch (where we got to try out the brand-new bridal-getting-ready-room – er, whatever you would call that kind of a room, lol). They were surrounded by so many family and friends and they had sooooo many beautiful & personal details to their day (from the sapphires in Kirsten’s necklace to the engraving on Thomas’ ring, everything had a little reason or tradition behind the choice – so very cool). Thomas & Kirsten seemed to love every single minute of it. It’s such a pleasure to photograph people who are so immersed in the moment…. It really was a great great day.
Thomas & Kirsten – thanks for letting us play a part in your beautiful wedding you – we had so much fun and can’t wait to share these pictures (and all the rest of them) with you!
Okey dokey artichokeys (hmmm, would that be “artichokeys” or “artichokies”? or does spelling even count when you’re making up words…?), here’s our LAST Scott vs Megan Contest for the summer!! (oh don’t worry, we have two more fall weddings and a December wedding before we close out the 2012 year:) Here’s how it works: Scott and I have each chosen a few of our favorite images from Thomas & Kirsten’s wedding and now we want to know which image is your favorite! Voting is easy: just comment below and tell us the Image Number of your favorite picture (Image Numbers are above each picture).
Just a heads-up: sometimes the Comments boxes take a little while to load – if there isn’t anywhere to type your comment the page is probably still loading. Just let the page load/think/spin for a while and then you should be all set:) If it still isn’t working for you feel free to leave a comment on the Megan Lane Photography page on Facebook (www.facebook.com/meganlanephotography) – just be sure to tell me what Image Number you’re voting for!
Serious bragging rights are on the line for Scott and me—PLUS every vote is helping Thomas & Kirsten earn credits toward a beautiful mounted print from their wedding. Spread the word to your family & friends—the more votes the merrier!—and happy voting!!:)
