Mr. MD – One Year Pictures in the Studio – Helena MT Child Photography

Posted by in Kiddo Portraits

Mr. M came to visit the MLP Studio earlier this month to celebrate turning ONE!  This is a little man that I’ve been photographing ever since he was a darling baby bump (see his mama’s maternity pics here) and as he’s gotten older he’s just continued to be ridiculously darling (I can’t even say he’s getting cuter…cause he was the most deeeeeelicious newborn and now he’s the most deeeeeeelicious toddler!) .

Oh how I do adore this age:  the chubby baby cheeks and dimples on their elbows haven’t disappeared, but now they have an oh-so-certain sense of self (“yes I’ll do that, no I WON’T do that! what’s the tallest thing I can climb? what’s the messiest thing I can get into?  Exactly hoooooooow far can I lean out  on this chair before gravity wins? How can I wrap Mommy & Daddy even more tightly around my leetle tiny finger?” lol)

Mr. M didn’t disappoint:  He was tooooootally into reading his most favorite book (the classic “Brown Bear Brown Bear What Do You See?”).  He tried his darndest to defy that pesky fact-of-life gravity by hanging one itty bitty foot (and half of his little body) off the edge of his chair.  And he told lots of “stories” (complete with fabulous facial expressions).  In short:  this session was all about entertainment; that is, Mr. M spent the whole session entertaining little ol’ me!:)

Like this:  “Upside down reading?  Why yes, yes I am that smart!  Thank you for asking,” says he.

Though, clearly, burying one’s nose IN the book can be an equally good strategy for reading….

Shock and awe.  That’s what I inspire people.  Shock and awe. ;)

It’s the sweet expression on this little Mister’s face as he gazes at his birthday balloons – and the two little hands on his tummy that just KILL me!

Such a happy family!

This picture just makes me smile. every. time. I. look. at. it!!!! :) :)

“I’m about to test gravity peeps!”

If this isn’t just a peek of pouty lip deliciousness I don’t know what is.

Have chair, might travel.

Baby Down Dog

And we’ll end with a happy happy picture of this handsome little man!!

To Mr. M’s mommy & daddy:  thank you so much for such a wonderful year of pictures.  It has been an honor capturing all of these sweet moments and funny faces for you guys!:)

Mr. C Turns 3 Years Old – Studio Toddler Pictures – Helena MT Child Photography

Posted by in Kiddo Portraits

I love toddlers.  I really really do.  Because they are always 100% real – in all of their glorious wiggly-squirmy-sometimes-serious-always-literal-lovey-boogery-quirky-short-view-of-the-world way. Sometimes they’re shy and I have to earn each sweet smile.  And sometimes they’re cranky and we need lots of breaks for snacks.  Sometimes they’ll stand still for a grand total of 0.05 seconds and I get in a kick-a** cardio workout.  And sometimes they put on a show worthy of a primetime network slot.

Mr. C fell into the last category.  Hooooooo-boy did he EVER put on a show.  At one point I was laughing so hard (at him laughing so hard) that I was having difficulties breathing.  I kid you not.

But the very best thing about this session was how ridiculously HIM he was.  I just went back and counted and he gave me over 68 different expressions.  SIXTY EIGHT!!  And I’m only counting the ones in the final cut of photos!  If I went back and counted them all I just might be in the triple digits.  For reals.

Obviously to say this pint-sized Mister was at home in front of the camera is an understatement of epic proportions.  (Full Disclosure:  he has had a *bit* of practice considering I’ve also taken his 6-month, 1-year, 2-year,  and now 3-year pics, and I can only imagine what’s in store for his big f-o-u-r!;)

Me?  I’m just along for the ride, yo.

And what a freakin-fab-u-lous ride it was!

So, in no particular order, here are just a few of Mr. C’s Looks:

The “I Can Do It Just Like the Big Boys” Look

The “OOOOOOOHHHHH Look What I Found!” Look

The “Double Chin Guffaw” Look

(He thought it was absolutely *****hysterical****** when Mommy would sneak up behind me and scare me by “talking” my singing Goat Puppet – and then when he got a chance to do it himself we were treated to truly gleeful double chins:)

The “Pint-Sized Superman” Look

The “I Got Big Stwong Muscles” Look

The “Gales of Giggles” Look

(this was when Mommy was “scaring” me with the Singing Goat – and I was laughing so hard – at him laughing so hard – that I nearly couldn’t breathe!)

I love how even his TOES are happy.

The “I DIS BIG [Is That Big Enough?]” Look

The “Who Me? [wink wink]” Look

The “Whew.  This Baby Model Business is Tough” Look

The “I’m Too Cute For Words! It’s A Wonder Mommy Can Ever Say No to this Face” Look

Thanks for another ahhhhhhhmazing session Mr. C.  You are scrumptious and I adore each and every one of your Looks (and your Mommy rocks too).  Come back and play again soon, mmmkay???? :)

Miss P.S. Turns One – Toddler Pictures – Helena MT Photographer

Posted by in Baby Pictures, Kiddo Portraits

Besides my own sweet girl, this sweet girl just might hold the place of most-photographed-MLP-baby…!  It goes all the way back to her mommy & daddy’s wedding (and includes engagement pictures, Rock the Dress pictures, and maternity pictures, just to name a few).  But what makes this little one especially unique is that I was actually asked to document her birth – which, to date, has been one of THE most incredible experiences of my life.  To be here now, one year past her newborn session, and to realize a) that was a YEAR ago (sheesh) and b) she’s now ONE YEARS OLD (double sheesh) makes me feel, well, kinda old!;)

But in all seriousness, it is not so much about how the time has raced by, but so much more about how incredibly blessed I feel to be a part of her life and to have her mommy as such a good friend.  ***sniff***

I am a very lucky girl indeed.

And little Miss P is a very cute girl, complete with a ridiculously cute wardrobe, and oh-so-soft-and-impossibly-fly-away cute hair, and she has just the cutest little personality you ever did meet.

But don’t take my word for it!  See for yourself:

Cuteness Exhibit A

Cuteness Exhibit B

Cuteness Exhibit C

(it’s the chubby cheeks combined with the wispy baby hair and the tiny glimpse of eyelashes that just does me in on this pic!)

So see?  I told you.

Cute.  As.  A.  Crinkly-Nosed.  Bug.  In.  A.  Rug!

And lest you think she’s just a pretty face, lemme tell you, this girl loooooooves her books.

Yes she does!

[I love her intense concentration in this photo – it really shows how very intent she was on “reading” her books.]

In fact, after this series of photos we tried to put the books away, but there was no out-of-sight-out-of-mind for this one year old!  Instead she would determinedly toddle over to where we had stacked them, plunk herself down, pull them back out, and get back to the oh-so-serious work of baby reading, lol!

And then it was on to celebrating the big O.N.E!

(I love the chalkboard Mommy made with her “stats” – how fun is that!?)

Of course no celebration would be complete without a cake smash.

Now most of the time when I photograph the cake smash the little ones are a bit overwhelmed with having all of that cake all to them selves….

Miss P had NONE of those qualms.

None.

In fact, the next series of photos are just a ***tiny*** slice of the hysterically funny cake smash that Miss P performed for us:

Because she thought it was all fun,

And games,

And the perfect opportunity to push her arm entirely. through. the. cake.

After which she was quite proud of her ingenuity,

and quite fond of squishing as much frosting & cake as possible, as hard as possible, with her own two little hands.

(can you not just FEEL her glee?!?:)

But as I mentioned at the beginning of all this, it’s truly her little personality that just puts me right over the edge.  Cause seriously, are you kidding me!?  Talk about a ham:)

[Here she’s on a race around the chair to get Mommy – good thing my shutter speed is fast! Lol]

And I’ll end with just one of those super sweet, big eyed, happy face pictures that always make my heart go pitter pat.

S Family:  I love this girl.  I love you guys.  I love these pics and I can’t WAIT to show you the rest!!!  ***mwah***

Baby J.M. – 6 Month Pictures in the Studio – Helena MT Baby Photography

Posted by in Baby Pictures, Kiddo Portraits

Do I ever have a treat for you guys today!  Baby J came to the studio last week with his big sister and brother for his six-month session – and let me tell you, this little man came prepared.  His double chins were allllllll warmed up, his cheekers were ready to GRIN, and his baby overalls were ready to par-tay!  He’s grown so much since his newborns session (oh! such newborn sweetness! Check those pics out here) – he’s now proudly sitting all on his own and oh-so-happily blowing raspberries back at his siblings (and anyone else who wants to participate in that oh-so-fascinating activity, lol).

And have I mentioned his scrumptious double chins??  Yes?  Well, it bears repeating.

Cause really.

Really…?!?

You’re killin me with cuteness Baby J.  Yes you are!

Sister and Brother are also much enamored with their newest family member.

[And could the look on Baby J’s face get annnnnnny cuter? Nope.  I don’t think so!;)]

Of course no baby post would be complete without some fabulously chubby tootsies:

OshKosh B’gosh.  That’s gotta be one of the best names – ever.  If you can say that out loud, while looking at these dimpled fingers, and NOT grin, I’ll give you twenty bucks.

[Disclaimer:  I’m not really going to give you $20…nor am I in any way shape or form supporting this company or making money from mentioning it…I’m just trying to make a point about the cuteness of that name, and the cuteness of these fingers, and…well, nevermind;)]

“I got two teefers.  Is that somtum I gotta worry ‘bout?”

Mom was wondering what to bring for clothes.  I told her to bring some things she wanted to see them wear – and then to maybe let the older two choose their own outfits for one of the looks.

[This is mostly selfish since I absolutely, positively LOVE to see what kiddos this age will come up with when dressing themselves.  I swear, Claire’s outfits swing wildly from dang-that-could-almost-pass-for-couture-sweetie! to oh-dear-um-wow-honey-oh-um-holy-COW-that’s-um………..creative?  lol]

Mom loved this idea and Miss J and Mr. E certainly did not disappoint – cause anytime I get to take pictures of a pirate AND a pink boa in the same picture I know I’m golden;)

(The “Princess” pose and “Pirate” action were 100% their own contribution to this picture – I just click click clicked my little shutter – and giggled;)

Such happy little monkeys!

[OK, does anyone else find themselves singing “For he’s a jolly good fellow, for he’s a jolly good fellow” while looking at this picture??]

Oh.  My.  Goooooooodness!!!!!!!!!!!!

And this has to be one of my favorite shots of the whole session.

[The hat!  The wash tub!  The overalls!  The expression!  Ack!]

I just don’t know how it could get much more delicious that this!!! :)

Thanks for another fantastically fantastic session M Family!  I cannot wait to show you the rest of the pics!:)

Mr. H – Outdoor Fall Toddler Pictures – Helena MT Photographer

Posted by in Kiddo Portraits

Scrumptious.

Simply.

Scrumptious.

That’s this little man to a T.  With his snappy brown eyes and his fabulously mischievous grins and his delightfully catchy belly giggles – scrumptious just sums it up per.fect.ly.

And I should know!  After maternity pictures (here) and newborn pictures (here) and 6 month pictures (here) and one-year pictures (here) and now run-around-like-a-crazy-man—catch-me-if-you-can eighteen-month pictures I would have say I’m practically an expert!  Or perhaps HE’s the expert…?

Cause this little man knows how to flirt with the camera.  Oh-ho yes he does:)  And I pretty much just have to hang on for the ride (whilst thinking to myself “Ga! The cuteness!  The cuteness! The cuteness!!!!!!!!!!!”:)

I don’t know how his parents are ever going to say no to this little face….  Nerves of steel people, I hope they have nerves of steel;)

Sooooo I think I have a thing for little shoes….

Ok, that’s silly.  Of COURSE I have a thing for little shoes.

What?  You love my monster sweater and my matching monster hat?

Aw shucks.

Such a happy fam!

You.

Yes you!

Bring it.

Cool guy.

Cool vest.

Oh how I loooove the little leg kick!

Yep.  This smile is daaaaaangerous!

Once again F Family I had an almost overwhelming urge to scoop up your little man and take him home in my back pocket….  But obviously that would be kinda weird, so just promise that we’ll be able to hang out again soon, mmmmkay??;)  Love you guys!!
