Tom & Arynn – Winter Engagement Pictures – Helena, MT Wedding Photographer
I knew Arynn and I were going to have a BLAST working together right from our very first meeting when we bonded over three-ring binders and the use of organizational tabs (let’s just say that she and I both fully embrace our Type A-ness:). We also had a lot more in common than either of us realized at that point: it turns our our moms taught together and our dads were fraternity brothers at MSU – craziness, right?!?
Anyway, I was super psyched for this session – these guys wanted snow-on-the-ground winter engagement pictures and with record snowfall in Helena this year I thought that would be noooooo problem!
Then after 50+ days of below 20 weather it warmed up to 50 degrees – and eeeeeverything melted. Arrrrgggg!!!
THEN it snowed the day before our session. #yaaasss!
Finally the day of our session arrived. The wind was – well “howling” is not even a teeny exaggeration – it was craaaazy. But it was also sunny and these two were totally up for the challenge of tromping around in the snow until we could find some spots where we wouldn’t be blown off the ground. Gotta love Montana weather;)
I have to say that I absolutely love the way the pictures turned out – and I had SO much fun hanging out with these two. Their wedding next October is going to be awesome!!

Josh & Allison – Winter Engagement Pictures – Helena, MT Wedding Photographers
Josh and Allison asked if we could do their engagement pictures where Josh proposed to Allison – and of course I looooved that idea. Little did I know that when we arrived I would love the location even MORE (it’s Allison’s parent’s property and the barns and outbuildings are original to the property, **swoon**). With all of this crazy below-zero weather and snow snow snow we’ve been having in Helena lately we were all crossing our fingers {and toes and eyeballs} that the weather would cooperate (i.e. that we wouldn’t lose the aforementioned finger & toes &/or freeze to death during the shoot) and although it was a leetle bit chilly (ok, a lot bit chilly) I think it’s safe to say that it was DEFINITELY worth the numb fingers and snow down our shoes and freezing noses.
Cause, seriously. These pics.

Zach & Ashlee – Outdoor Engagement Pictures – Helena, MT Wedding Photographer
When I arrived for Zach & Ashlee’s engagement session the weather was *not* cooperating (think RAIN and WIND) – which was especially disappointing considering the fact that these two will be celebrating their wedding this February…in Montana. So odds are we will also be fighting some less-than-ideal weather at their wedding. Thankfully [after ~10 minutes of texting each other from inside our cars] the weather cleared enough for us to venture forth. And I have to admit that I looooove the moody sky and soft cloudy lighting we had for the rest of the session!
Ashlee also proved that while she may be freezing, she can make pictures look completely effortless [a skill we may be putting to the test again in February, lol].

Jared and Elizabeth wanted their Engagement Session to be fabulous.
I think it’s safe to say we accomplished that goal {in spades}.
Can we all pause for a moment and contemplate this awesomeness: beautiful fall day with juuuuuust enough color left to make it interesting, a still-as-glass lake, and a couple who shows up to their Engagement Session with a wardrobe that consists of two designer dresses and a tux.

I absolutely loooove the juxtaposition of the baren trees and slightly moody weather with Jared & Elisabeth’s gorgeous outfits. These guys wanted a sophisticated and editorial feel to their photos and it was soooo much fun to make that vision come alive.
I’m not going to lie, if you were hiking around the lake that still chilly afternoon you would have heard [me] shouting in excitement, [all of us] laughing, and [many] “ooooohhhh, DON’T MOVE” moments.
It was freakin awesome.
