Weston & Rachel – Highwood Ranch Wedding – Montana Wedding Photographers

Posted by in Wedding Photography

Several years ago we got a phone call from Kirsten, a bride who was having her wedding in her hometown of Highwood, a tiny community outside of Great Falls. We totally hit it off and we were really excited when we booked her wedding. We loved working with Kirsten & Dane and all of the folks in Highwood and Fort Benton and we had an absolute blast at the wedding (even though the outdoor ceremony did take place during a Montana monsoon…but that’s a whooooole different story;).

Anyhoo, little did we know that we would be spending **quite** a bit of time at weddings in Highwood/Fort Benton over the next few years! In fact, we got call after call after call from wonderful brides from that area who were planning their weddings and who wanted us to be their photographers (we did THREE weddings there in 2012 alone, just to give you an idea:). And I don’t know if I can even describe how honored we feel when that happens…these are friends and sisters and sisters-in-laws and they not only love our work, but they want us to be a part of their special day. Me —> Goosebumps.

So whenever we head back to Highwood &/or Fort Benton to photograph a wedding it kinda feels like we’re going back to visit family. And when I get to give all “our” girls hugs and see their belly bumps and hear about new jobs and meet new babies, well, honestly? It ROCKS. For reals:)

Last year we found out that Kirsten’s cousin Rachel was getting married in Highwood to her honey Weston – and they wanted US to photograph their wedding! Obviously there was NO way we were going to miss that event!:) So last week we packed up all our gear and headed to the Swan Ranch where Rachel and Weston were getting married.

From start to finish this was a day grounded in Weston & Rachel’s deep faith in God, and a joyful celebration of their love for each other. As they said their vows under the wide Montana sky, with the Highwood Mountains as a breath-taking backdrop, their faith and love was a beautiful thing to witness. In fact, as their first act as a married couple they chose to share in a private and intimate communion, just for the two of them. Their family and friends covered them with love and prayers as they held hands, broke bread, and prayed quietly together [and this photographer held back happy tears].

After the ceremony Weston & Rachel gave lots of hugs and then they jumped in their getaway car (her grandpa’s fire engine red vintage Pontiac Catalina convertible – soooo cool!). And then we were off to the reception in Fort Benton! Lots of yummy food and TONS of jitterbugging followed. Plus lots more laughter – and a **little** bit of sweating (hey, it was a hot day, ok?;). We even found out that Weston was part of the girls MSU basketball team…who knew?;)

All in all it was a truly awesome day for a truly awesome couple:)

Weston & Rachel – thank you so much for asking us to be a part of your wedding day. It was such an honor and we had SO much fun with all of you guys!:)

Scott vs. Megan Contest Winners – Brett & Jessalyn and Tony & Carole

Posted by in Specials, Announcements, Fun Stuff, Wedding Photography

So, um, confession time….  I have been very very (very!) bad at keeping up on the Scott vs. Megan Contest “who won” posts.  I’m sure all of you awesome peeps out there who voted, and all of you loyal blog readers, were (rightly so!) kinda wondering what-the-heck??  And for that I apologize!  Honestly, this summer has been just a leetle bit crazy – in an awesome-boy-am-I-taking-a-LOT-of-pictures kind of way – but it does mean that some Blogging balls have to be put down [temporarily of course!] so that I make sure all of my clients are getting the love and attention they deserve.  But I do want to say a big huge THANKS for your patience:)

Sooooooo, without further ado, I have TWO S vs. M Contest results to share with you! (that rhymes, heehee)

First up is Brett & Jessalyn’s awesome Highwood/Fort Benton wedding.  Voting was super close on this one – there was actually a three-way tie for most of the contest – but in the end Image #7 came out on top.  And I’m happy to report that I took that image!  Woot:)

Next up are the results from Tony & Carole’s fabulous Kleffner Ranch Wedding.  This one was pretty much a landslide with Image #11 as the clear winner (plus both the Bride & the Groom voted for this one so it should get bonus points or something, lol).  And that image was shot by Scott!  So congrats honey, it’s a gorgeous image!

And there you have it!  I am now up-to-date on my Scott vs. Megan Contest posts – er, that is, I will be completely up–to-date as soon as I post Drew & Karlee’s Contest (which is all written & uploaded, all I need to do is click “Post” – so stay tuned!:).

Brett & Jessalyn – Ranch Wedding – Highwood & Fort Benton Wedding Photography

Posted by in Wedding Photography

What do you get when you cross gale force winds, 90 degree weather, a couple of semi-truck-wind-breaks (yes you read that right), a band in the living room (yep, you read that right too!), some of the most gorgeous country God put on the face of this earth, a bunch of fantastic family and friends, and a bride & a groom who are completely smitten and ridiculously wonderful?  Well, the Ritland-Bahnmiller wedding of course!

Scott and I returned to the Highwood/Fort Benton area last weekend for Brett & Jessalyn’s wedding and it was quite the memorable event.  The wind was blowing so hard [all. day.] that at times I was worried it might lift our bride right off the ground (I kid you not.  It was some craaaaaaazy wind people!).  I know it probably wasn’t the weather that Jessalyn would have *picked* for her wedding day, but when we showed up that morning she greeted us with the most radiant smile and it was immediately clear that this was going to be wedding day with a focus on those things that are most important:  love, family, friends, laughter, love, and more love.   As the day progressed it was obvious that although people might be talking about the wind at this wedding for years to come, ultimately this day would be remembered not for the wind, but for the joy and laughter that Brett & Jessalyn shared with all of their friends and family.

Brett & Jessalyn – you two could not be more wonderful!  Thanks for letting us be a part of your special day.  It was truly an honor.

Okey dokey people – are you all ready for this week’s Scott vs Megan Contest??  Yeehaw!  Here’s how it works:  Scott and I have each chosen a few of our favorite images from Brett & Jessalyn’s wedding and now we want to know which image is your favorite!  Voting is easy:  just comment below and tell us the Image Number of your favorite picture (Image Numbers are above each picture).  Bonus – tell us why you love it!!:)

Just a heads-up:  sometimes the Comments boxes take a little while to load – if there isn’t anywhere to type your comment the page is probably still loading.  Just let the page load/think/spin for a while and then you should be all set:)  If it still isn’t working for you feel free to leave a comment on the Megan Lane Photography page on Facebook (www.facebook.com/meganlanephotography) – just be sure to tell me what Image Number you’re voting for!

Serious bragging rights are on the line for Scott and me—PLUS every vote is helping Brett & Jessalyn earn credits toward a beautiful mounted print from their wedding.   Spread the word to your family & friends—the more votes the merrier!—and happy voting!!:)
